HPi's Operations Support function initially originated within the power generation field but has since moved into other areas of industry.       Assessing particular parts of a company’s process and looking at developing more effective ways of operation the business or by looking at changing working practices to ensure that maximum business benefit is realised. This may consist of looking at plant operations, surveillance, process log keeping arrangements, shift handover arrangements, alarm management, interface arrangements, plant ownership, material condition arrangements, housekeeping arrangements etc...

The key to improvement in many companies is often the human factor which can be sumarised as error reduction. To do this we provide hihgh-quality and effective training on the following topics:

• Effective communications
• Team skills
• Decision making
• Pre and post job briefings
• Introduction of improvement tools such as the PDCA & STAR principles.

Within our Process & Business Improvement field, we normally start by helping customers to assess their processes and to create indicators which are a means of measuring process effectiveness.

The main benefit here is to ensure that customers/clients realise where improvements need to be made to their process by finding the problems and treating these with an appropriate remedy. This avoids spending time and effort to remedy a symptom also avoiding treating the symptom as the problem which can explain why many companies focus on resolving the wrong thing!

We prefer our approach which is to help the client establish the problem statement and then develop a best fit solution. We openly encourage clients not to be reactive to trends or fashions within industry that do not provide a benefit to their process!
